My road to becoming a developer was a long and twisty one. 🚗

I started out as a Theatre major in university before switching to Early Modern History. I eventually completed an MA in History and did five years of doctoral studies before leaving academia for good. 📚

I've always loved dabbling with HTML or CSS in my spare time but I never believed I could do it as a job. Until my early thirties, I firmly saw myself in the Humanities and the Arts. But over time, I realized that I could no longer ignore my growing passion for STEM and all things coding... 🔥

After my second daughter was born, I decided to take the plunge and began forging a new career as a developer. I was (and still am) the primary caregiver for my daughters during the day, but in the evenings I dedicate my time to online coding tutorials and courses. After a few months of self-directed learning, I quickly realized that game development was my passion and I began focusing primarily on Unity and C#. 🎮

In the midst of taking hundreds of hours of Udemy courses related to object-oriented programming, I began documenting my journey on Instagram and here on Hashnode. I'm so grateful to have connected with other 'latecomers' to coding and many others who are trying to balance careers as developers and full-time parents. 👩‍👧‍👧

These days, I'm working as a freelance content creator and Unity developer. Any income that I make from my writing will be used to buy this tired mama a coffee or to purchase more coding courses. I am so thankful for the support of everyone I've met in the developer community and I can't wait to keep learning from you all.
